ENGINEERING MANAGER

Position Overview:

Are you a passionate and driven engineering professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a capable and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our mechanical design and engineering team in delivering innovative, high-quality solutions for the oil & gas and energy industry.

This is a pivotal leadership role in a well-established engineering business, where you'll be responsible for managing a skilled team, overseeing the full lifecycle of mechanical systems and product development, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. You'll also play a customer-facing role, supporting bids and quotations with technical input and helping shape engineering solutions that meet client requirements.

You’ll collaborate closely with sales, operations and procurement to drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement across the business. Engineering Delivery:
  • Lead and manage the engineering team, ensuring alignment with project requirements and deadlines.
  • Oversee engineering designs, drawings, and documentation from concept through to final delivery.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and engineering meetings to monitor progress and resolve technical challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, industry standards, and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party certification bodies as necessary.
  • Support the sales team with technical input for bids, quotes, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Maintain engineering records and the parts database accurately and efficiently.
Project Management:
  • Manage design and manufacturing schedules to meet project timelines.
  • Review and approve engineering documentation, including FEA reports and mechanical/hydraulic calculations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to budget while meeting all engineering and legislative requirements.
Operational Collaboration:
  • Liaise with production and operations teams to align capacity with project demands.
  • Support procurement by approving purchases and ensuring timely issuance of parts.
  • Forecast and monitor invoicing milestones and progress reporting.
QHSE:
  • Ensure all equipment and documentation meet relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Stay updated on new industry regulations and disseminate relevant changes across the team.
Leadership & Team Management:
  • Provide daily support, mentoring, and direction to engineers and draftspersons.
  • Foster a high-performing team culture with a focus on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Expertise in producing engineering drawings and designing mechanical systems.
  • Capability to perform hand calculations for engineering problems.
  • Strong knowledge of UK industry standards and directives including:
    • PED
    • Machinery Directive / Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations
    • ATEX
    • DNV-ST-E271/273
Industry-Specific Experience:
  • Design and manufacture of:
    • Electric, Diesel, and Pneumatic Hydraulic Power Units
    • Umbilical Reelers and Spooling Units
    • High Pressure Pump Units
    • Mechanical Handling Equipment
Qualifications:
  • Essential: Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Preferred: Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng / BSc Hons)

MECHANICAL DESIGN / PROJECT ENGINEER

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design / Project Engineer to join our close-knit, multi-disciplinary engineering team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine your design skills with project management experience, focusing on bespoke well service and subsea control equipment for the oil and gas sector.

Mechanical Design:
  • Utilize your knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and machinery design to design, analyze, and optimize systems and components for oil and gas equipment.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software (Inventor or equivalent) and 2D drafting software (AutoCAD or equivalent) to create detailed designs.
  • Apply design for manufacturability principles to ensure efficient production.
Project Management:
  • Work on a wide range of projects, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities for growth.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the company, including sales and production.
  • Attend project meetings, communicate effectively, and prepare reports for stakeholders.
Problem Solving:
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to equipment design and functionality.
  • Proactively approach challenges and develop innovative solutions.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in equipment testing and validation to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • May interact with clients to gather requirements and provide technical support.
Qualifications:
  • HND or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, with a focus on pneumatics, hydraulics, and machinery design.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Inventor or equivalent) and 2D drafting software (AutoCAD or equivalent).
  • Experience in project management is a plus.

ELECTRICAL DESIGN / PROJECT ENGINEER

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Design / Project Engineer with experience in ATEX standards to join our close-knit, multi-disciplinary engineering team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your electrical engineering expertise in designing and developing bespoke well service and subsea control equipment for the oil and gas sector, ensuring compliance with ATEX regulations.

Electrical Design:
  • Design and develop electrical control systems and components for oil and gas equipment, ensuring compliance with ATEX standards for explosive atmospheres.
  • Utilise CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent) and electrical design tools to create electrical layouts.
  • Apply knowledge of hazardous area classifications, intrinsically safe systems, and explosion-proof equipment in the design process.
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards, including IECEx, ATEX, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems seamlessly.
Project Management:
  • Lead and manage electrical aspect of design projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Work on a variety of projects, each presenting unique technical challenges and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Liaise with internal departments, including sales, production, and procurement, to ensure project success.
  • Attend project meetings, communicate effectively, and prepare technical documentation for stakeholders.
Problem Solving:
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to electrical design, certification, and functionality
  • Conduct risk assessments and failure mode analysis to ensure reliability and safety.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and optimize electrical control systems for performance and efficiency.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in equipment testing and validation to ensure compliance with ATEX and other industry standards.
  • Maintain detailed design documentation, including schematics, specifications, and reports.
  • Provide technical support to clients and internal teams regarding ATEX-compliant equipment.
Qualifications:
  • HND or above in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical design, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
  • Good knowledge of ATEX directives, IECEx certification, and hazardous area equipment design.
  • Proficiency AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent.
  • Experience with control systems, instrumentation, and PLCs is an advantage.
  • Understanding of power distribution, circuit protection, and explosion-proof enclosures.
  • Experience in project management is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
