The frame is produced in aviation grade rigid aluminium plate and Teflon / PTFE coated which provides a tough durable finish. All other components and fixtures are made in stainless steel.
The Measuring Wheel and Pressure Wheels are made of an aerospace composite material. This dramatically reduces the weight of the components thus minimising the inertia of the Measuring Wheel during jarring operations making for a more accurate measurement system. This again helps reduce fatigue in the wire as it removes the high frequency resonance associated with the use of steel wheels.
Pressure Wheels are mounted on adjustable spring-loaded pivot arms, ensuring that the correct pressure is applied between the wire and measuring wheel at all times. Side float is provided on the arms to allow the pressure wheels to take up their own centre on the Measuring Wheel.
The pressure wheels are universal to all TIS Measuring Wheels. Changing wire sizes is simply a case of changing over the Measuring Wheel for one of the required size.
Optional encoder kits can be attached for recording logging type operations.
